STV is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Structural Engineering Intern in Water Practice to join our Structural team. This internship offers an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate-level candidates to work alongside our experienced team, learn, and contribute to meaningful projects. This hybrid position requires at least 3 days a week in the office. Preference will be given to those who can participate in the internship for at least 3 months and can work full-time.

Responsibilities
- Perform structural design and analysis calculations using governing codes and standards, engineering formulas, skills, and experience.
- Develop structural engineering plans, design, and layout.
- Provide drawings and/or sketches for designs to be incorporated in construction drawings by drafters.
- Research design options.
- Prepare load combination drawings and tables for structure manufacturers.
- Review shop drawings.
- Use computer-assisted engineering and design software to prepare engineering design documents.
- Attend and participate in project meetings.
- Perform field activities such as observation of construction progress and existing field conditions.
- Effectively communicate project progress and issues to the design team and maintain communication with the team members throughout the course of the project.
- Capable of managing and performing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Calculate structure heights and weights, concrete volumes, equipment fit-up, or other basic tasks.
- Support cost estimating with providing take-offs and getting quotes.
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering focused on structural engineering from an ABET-accredited university or NCEES equivalent.
- Taken and passed reinforced concrete and/or steel design course.
- Familiarity with production tools, or modeling and design software.
