JOB SUMMARY
The Financial Service Officer effectively counsels students and parents on the availability of Title IV Programs to achieve their educational goals within federal guidelines. The Financial Service Officer is someone who can assist and answer questions regarding a student’s financial aid package and student payments. The Financial Service Officer provides guidance and assistance to Centralized Financial Services and Student Accounts to ensure that students are packaged in a timely manner and within compliance standards. The Financial Services Officer will work directly with Centralized Financial Services, Student Accounts and Executive Director to develop improvements to the overall quality and environment of the Financial Aid Office at Ancora Education.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma (GED acceptable) from an academic institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
- 1 year of experience in customer service related field
- Ability to multitask while maintaining organization
- Candid, honest, respectful communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Experience using Google Office
- Highest levels of integrity, trust, respect, and professionalism, with ability and willingness to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation
- Must be current on any student loans
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 1 year prior experience in financial aid /loan servicing/collections
- Experience with CampusNexus Software
- Associate’s degree or higher from an academic institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Counsel incoming, continuing, and reentry students on the availability of Title IV funds and resources to cover their tuition and living costs
- Answer student questions regarding completion of the Federal Application for Federal Student Aid and Direct Loan Entrance Counseling
- Resolve conflicting information that is identified between Financial Aid Documents as well as other student files within the Institution
- Effectively communicate with Admissions to ensure future registrations have obtained appropriate documentation for packaging
- Ensure files are uploaded into the campus operating system
- Provide updates to Centralized Financial Services and the Executive Director on students who have not submitted documentation or required paperwork to receive Title IV funding
- Counsel students and parents regarding title IV programs and student payments
- Collection and posting of student payment plans
- Establish timelines and payment plans to bring students current on outstanding account balance
- Effectively use and track activities in CampusNexus
- Other duties as assigned
- Assist students with the completion and apply for all Non-Title IV fund sources including but not limited to VA Funding, State Grants, and scholarships.
