Style Crest is seeking an experienced and results-driven Distribution Manager to lead our largest distribution operation in Fremont, Ohio. This key role will oversee all distribution and transportation activities, directly supporting seamless order fulfillment, private fleet delivery to customers in the Northern Region, as well as managing full truckload orders and internal inventory transfers to our branches across the country.

As the Distribution Manager, you will be responsible for leading a diverse team of 50 distribution associates and 15 drivers across multiple shifts and facilities. Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the successful execution of the day to day operational activities to support customer order fulfillment and delivery, internal inventory transfers, customer TL and LTL orders, routing and dispatching of deliveries, equipment upkeep and availability, receiving and replenishment, inventory control and management, workforce planning, safety, facility organization and housekeeping as well as the shuttle and warehouse support for the plant.
  • Provides leadership and direction either through supervisors or directly to associates to ensure a consistent understanding and adherence to job and customer service expectations; the achievement of operational standards and efficiencies; the development and retention of talent to support the business needs; the optimization of resources (labor, equipment, etc.); the adherence to operational processes and policies; and enforcement of all company, safety, DOT, and federal/state regulations.
  • Drives individual and team engagement to achieve daily work expectations, desired customer service goals, and deliver operational improvements. Demonstrates the ability and passion for hiring, developing, and retaining a talented workforce by being a visible and engaged leader who coaches, supports, and holds the team accountable for their actions and results. Develops and executes a workforce plan that can properly support our sales, service, and financial goals. Maintains a positive work environment and culture for our associates to be successful.
  • Leads with a strong passion for continuous operational and customer service improvement. Challenges the current state to identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, processes, and costs to drive effective and sustainable changes that deliver exceptional customer service and enhanced operational results. Works with cross functional leaders to implement improvement initiatives that yield positive operational efficiencies and financial results.
  • Analyzes distribution expenses as well as the costs associated with service errors such as inaccurate picking and receiving, damages, inventory shortages, returns, product movements, internal transfer processes, etc. to make positive improvements in the operation. Addresses service failures immediately with corrective action.
  • Analyzes fleet costs, routing processes, delivery commitments, customer constraints, and inventory transfer processes to recommend adjustments to improve overall efficiency and costs. Works with sales and cross functional leaders to ensure sound decisions are consistently applied to improve the overall cost to serve the customer. Ensures the operation has adequate back-up delivery options to meet our promised delivery dates. Ensures all fleet assets (tractors, trailers, ELD equipment, forklifts, etc.) are well maintained. Provides the on-site leadership for fleet safety and the adherence to DOT regulations, delivery expectations, and fleet policies.
  • Oversees the management of and the inventory control procedures for all products and materials in the facility. Assists with cycle counts and physical inventory. Ensures all inventory discrepancies are communicated and resolved. Works with Purchasing to achieve the targets for inventory turns. Ensures the condition of the inventory is maintained and implements corrective action to address issues. Ensures customer returns are processed timely and in adherence with policy. Determines root causes for these returns and implements corrective action. Ensures product is inspected and product returned into inventory or moved to QA timely.
  • Evaluates warehouse layout, organization, and cleanliness to eliminate potential inefficiencies and reduce any safety hazards. Actively promotes, trains, and enforces a positive safety & housekeeping culture.
  • Ensures our ERP technology and associated equipment is being used correctly to support our distribution and transportation activities. Identifies opportunities for enhancements to drive productivity and service improvements.
  • Communicates frequently with leadership to provide an overview of the operational successes and challenges, significant service failures, performance efficiencies, customer issues, large facility or equipment expenditures, and inventory concerns. Recommends and implements solutions to continually improve the operation.
  • Actively participates in the budget process and monthly financial review to understand key cost drivers impacting the operation to manage adherence to the operation’s budget to ensure P&L success for the activities serviced by Ohio. Recommends capital expenditures to increase efficiency, replace equipment, or solve capacity constraints.
  • Maintains a security program that ensures the company’s products, materials and equipment are always secure and report any unauthorized entries at the facility. Immediately reports and investigates security issues including theft, vandalism, or missing inventory. Works with Corporate Operations to resolve issues.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of management experience in a distribution pick/pack environment with a direct delivery platform.
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, operations, and/or business in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a team to achieve operational goals in a fast pace and complex operation.
  • Prior experience with managing a private fleet with knowledge of DOT regulations is preferred.
  • A customer service focused individual who operates from a clear set of positive values and principles.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills at all levels in the organization.
  • Demonstrated success developing and leading significant operational improvement projects.
  • Strong analysis skills to identify opportunities and solutions.
  • Ability to use logical judgment to make sound decisions and appropriately resolve problems and conflicts.
  • Demonstrated success developing and motivating a high-performance team that achieves results.

  • A strong background in inventory management and control process to achieve order fulfillment goals.

  • Flexible, adaptive, approachable, and capable of leading through times of uncertainty, change, and significant growth.
  • Experienced managing an operation through an ERP implementation.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Epicor P21 experience is a plus.

This position is based on-site at our Fremont, Ohio distribution center, which typically operates Monday through Friday across two shifts. Some travel may be required.
