Job Title: General Manager
Reports To: CEO/President
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for overseeing and directing the Store Managers and Sales Staff for both stores. The General Manager leads the overall management and operations of both stores, including daily sales operations, providing strong leadership, maintaining excellent customer relationships, and developing store manager and sales associate talent. The position calls for collaborating with Store Managers on executing at a strategic level to drive sales, gross profit, and development of sales leaders.
Essential Functions and Duties:
Shape the work environment – Provide leadership for business growth with focus on client-associate satisfaction
· Ensure that all decisions & actions are in alignment with the company’s mission and vision statements
· Manage day-to-day operations by assigning goals and ensuring their completion
· Develop and maintain relationships with customers, vendors, teams & community
· Recruit, train, develop teams to use strategies and advantages, leading to personal success
· Guide and follow up of all guest strategies and expectations to assure they are achieved
· Create organizational effectiveness by developing processes, overseeing employees, establishing a highly motivated collaborative work environment, and implementing approved innovative changes
· Build upon and expand the value of the company to guests, associates, and community
Crafting a strategic vision – through analyzing data and marketplace, with leadership develop a vision, plan, and action to create competitive advantages to assist guests, team & company to grow market value
· With company leaders develop a strategic plan for optimized productivity
· Seek opportunities for growth by developing new business opportunities
· Assure stores & staff meet presentation standards
· Know the perceived advantages of retailers in the marketplace – move to exceed those notions
· Build strong & lasting relations with guest through individual associates which is core to the company’s mission
· Source unique high-quality products & services in a welcoming, fun, informative and professional environment
· Oversee and manage CRM & client book strategies (do the unexpected)
· Implement client outreach programs in conjuncture with marketing
Organizing resources – goal-planning-budgeting, revenue-profit, managing team focus
· Drive all performances toward business goals
· Manage short term and long-term goals which include sales, CRM, training, and KPI goals
· Supervise store managers and assist with their supervision and coaching of sales associates
· Oversee marketing initiatives and manage special event success
· Work with CFO to establish individual team members and store sales goals
· Broadcast company goals, plans, and initiatives to the appropriate individuals
· Bring forward acceptance ideas on creating business, events, and employee development, etc.
· Allow input from all team members, listen to their perspective, and respect their intentions
· Manage payroll and schedule to maximize sales/expenditure ratio
· Implement company training schedule
· Assist management and heads of departments in the execution of their business plan
Developing star performers – recruit-hire-train-develop by setting path & expectations
· Actively recruit within the marketplace for talent
· Assure all associates are offered relevant training to further their success
· Define goals and expectations of performance with clear accountability
· Encourage team members to express their personal goals
· Provide consistent feedback to assist individuals strengthen specific knowledge and skills
· Hold monthly performance reviews with team members to assess progress
· Manage team focusing on 20-60-20
Organizational development – implementing operational best practices
· Establish, improve, and manage internal processes
· Focus on raising the skill and operational performance of each team member
· Team with management, departments, support, tech team to enhance cooperation, and understanding, resulting in an improved workflow
· Cross train staff within different departments & positions
· Assure on boarding of all new associates are thoroughly trained
· Perform regular audits to confirm operational strategies are followed
· Verify that company is compliant with relevant company policies and procedures, all laws, and regulations
· Follow company security to maintain the security and safety of company assets, associates & guests
Up & running – be omni presence within departments & stores to boost company, management, staff effectiveness and assure a superior customer experience
· Be visible and accessible in Dayton and Cincinnati weekly
· Inspect merchandising standards daily
· Enforce consistency between locations through consistently training
· Address all guest concerns immediately with a satisfactory resolution
· Assure the service division achieves the focus, success, and experience it deserves
· Run regular repair reports to audit effectiveness of processes
· Integrate the new messaging throughout the company
Communication & messaging
· Improve the awareness and use of client strategies, advantages, and processes
· Require all forms to be fully filled out and explained to the client
· Hold weekly meetings with store managers and other department heads
· Weekly meeting with President to review and forecast activity
