Senior Software Engineer, Back End

Styra is the company behind the extremely fast-growing Open Policy Agent (OPA) open source project – we deliver industry-leading SaaS software, built on OPA, for cloud-native environments.Role OverviewOur team is seeking an experienced Back-End Engineer with a proven track record of designing and delivering world-class products. You will be working on building new features in Golang on top of Styra's state-of-the-art cloud-native platform, solving hard technical problems such as database concurrency, storage, caching, and query optimization.What You Will Do : Design and implement APIs to be used by the front-end, CLI, and customer automationImplement high-quality code with test coverageParticipate in design and code reviewsContribute to high-level strategic discussionsUnderstand how to build secure softwarePlay a key role in building out our cloud-native security solutionWhat You Bring to the Team : BSCS, MSCS or equivalent experience8 years' experience working as a Software EngineerProficient in Back-End tools (e.g. Golang, Git, Microservices architecture)A track record for taking features and products from concept to productionExperience writing meaningful unit tests and supporting a full automation strategyPassionate about writing secure, reliable and fast software for a SaaS environmentExcellent communication and presentation skills, both written and oral, as well as exceptional listening skillsKnowledge of cloud-native technologies (Kubernetes, Service Mesh, etc) and experience with Open Policy AgentWhat We Offer : Competitive salary and stock optionsFull medical coverage (health, dental, and vision)Phone & Internet reimbursement policyFlexible vacation policyPaid parental leaveFor this role, the estimated base salary is $147,000.00 - $195,000.00. The final compensation package for this role will be determined during the interview process and is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to : location, skills, experience and training.
