GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
As a member of the healthcare team, this position works under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist in the delivery of pharmaceutical services. Duties are performed in a manner which ensures the patient has a pleasant and satisfactory experience in the manner in which their healthcare is delivered, managed and coordinated with both internal and external entities and in which the patient participates in the decision-making. Therefore, patient relationship, management of patient care, management of patient information, team communication, and demonstration of conduct and activities using patient centered medical home principles, policies and procedures is critical. Supports the vision and mission of Su Clinica at all times.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (with or without accommodations)
Patient Relationship: Creates a customer focus approach. Takes action on meeting client needs and requests with a sense of urgency. Possesses good communication skills, demonstrates good telephone etiquette and is courteous and respectful to patients. Handles questions that do not require a pharmacist’s expertise or judgment. Communicates patient’s problems/complaints to the pharmacist.
Management of Patients Care: Accepts new prescription orders or refills from patients or their agents. Enters prescription information into the pharmacy computer, checks all prescription information for completeness. Verifies patient information and proper physician authorization. Assists pharmacist to prepare prescriptions by retrieving medications from the shelf, counting, pre-counting and pouring medications. Duties may include enrolling patients in the Drug Access Program and any other patient assistance program administered by Su Clinica Pharmacy.
Manages Patient Information: Understands and abides by Confidentiality expectations. Adheres to all HIPAA regulations in and outside Su Clinica. Assures that patient information and records is complete and current in accordance with medication management policies and procedures. Communicates patient information as requested to enhance patient services. Assists in prescription billing. Prepares daily reports.
Team Communication: Actively participates in team/departmental meetings to establish and maintain good rapport and working relationships. Maintains communication throughout the day with clinic staff to ensure maximum productivity. Assists pharmacist and other pharmacy staff in maintaining workflow. Participates in the orientation of new employees.
Demonstration of Safe and Professional Conduct: Maintains a friendly and safe work environment for self and others. Demonstrates an understanding and abides by approved Medication Management Policies and Procedures. Responds to emergency situation as per training. Refrains from texting and speaking on the phone while on duty. Refrains from informal communications with patients and others. Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule as per leave policy. Performs assigned duties.
Submits required documentation in a timely manner (credentialing requirements, license renewals, certifications, CNE attendance, etc.).May require occasional travel. Must always adhere to a professional appearance in dress and behavior/conduct.

Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: (use of equipment, job related knowledge, language, etc.)
Knowledge of medical and pharmaceutical terms and of the laws and regulations related to pharmaceutical operations.
Knowledge of SC policies and procedures
Knowledge of electronic medical records (EMR)
Skilled in the use of a computer, keyboard, telephone and other pharmaceutical or office equipment
Ability to read, write and spell accurately.
Ability to maintain an effective and professional working relationship with the public and co-workers.
Able to stand for long periods of time, bend, stretch, stoop, push, pull and lift 20 lbs..
Ability to prepare records and reports in accordance to detailed instructions
Ability to effectively manage time and handle multiple priorities

EXPERIENCE DESIRED/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: High School Diploma or GED. Must have one year work experience as a certified pharmacy technician and be currently certified by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or National Healthcareer Association and registered with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Must be current with BLS/CPR.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS: Due to the nature of SC Services, it may be necessary for employees to work extended hours or other variations of the usual shift to ensure adequate care to patients and to maintain service to the community.
This position requires handling cash, collections, payments, billing, purchasing or inventory duties and as such will require taking no less than five (5) consecutive days of accrued annual leave days per year. Therefore, five of the accrued leave days will be reserved for this purpose.
This position requires travel. Employee must provide transportation. If employee operates a personal motor vehicle in the performance of their official duties, the employee must possess a current valid Texas driver’s license for the appropriate type of vehicle and Texas Liability insurance. The position requires that the employee’s driving record be verified with law enforcement to ensure compliance with SC driving policy.
