SUMMARY
Serves as a primary contact for media relations, with a focus on product-specific initiatives and regional outreach. Develops press materials and facilitates journalist test drives to promote brand engagement. Monitors media coverage and analyzes product reviews to ensure accurate representation of the brand and its products. Maintains product press materials on the media website and media contact database. Builds and sustains strong relationships with automotive journalists to strengthen the brand's media presence; focus will primarily be East or West Coast media relations depending on employee location. Depending on employee location, may oversee national press vehicle fleet, including product placement fleet and placement proposals for non-paid vehicle appearances in TV, movies, etc.
PRIMARY ESPONSIBILITIES
- Public Relations (PR) : Along with the Subaru Product PR team, acts as a national press information contact for Subaru products, technology, recalls, etc. Focus will primarily be East or West Coast media relations depending on employee location.
- Media Reporting : Monitors, gathers, and analyzes media sentiment on Subaru products and technology for internal reporting and metrics.
- Media Contact : Establishes and maintains relationships and serves as a media contact for Subaru on the East or West Coast and as needed nationally. Attends press functions, meets journalists, organizes interviews, and performs vehicle walkarounds to help promote the Subaru brand and products.
- Press Kit Fulfillment : Coordinates media requests in conjunction with Product PR Manager and works with Product Management department on press information accuracy.
- Press Materials : Develops and refines product and technology press materials (releases, pitches, briefing documents, statements, fact sheets, and more) along with Product PR Manager. Assists with writing and proofreading. Edits photos as needed.
- Special Events : Assists with developing and implementing regional and national public relations events. Maintains and updates media event invitation list.
- Technical Accuracy : Coordinates with the necessary internal stakeholders to align on product technology improvements and media material accuracy, including legacy products and archived press materials.
- Media Site Maintenance : Maintains all product content and multimedia assets internally and on Subaru's media website, including archived materials to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Media Contact Database : Maintains and updates Subaru's media contact database for test drive scheduling and distribution of press kit.
- Strategic Media Placement : Establishes regional guidelines for targeting test drives by model for each journalist, per Subaru's communications strategy.
- Depending on Employee Location) Press Fleet Management : Serves as Subaru of America's (SOA's) press vehicle fleet administrator and provides the administration, logistics, and oversight of Subaru's press fleet. Monitors press fleet activity to track progress throughout the model year. Makes recommendations to adjust the size of the press fleet to appropriate levels in order to operate in a cost-effective manner. Arranges shipment of vehicles to and from media events and press fleet vendors. Coordinates with the Corporate Vehicle Administration department to order the appropriate cars for the press fleet, product placement fleet, regional media drive events, competitive comparisons, etc.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS : 4-Year College Degree (BA, BS) and 6-8 years' experience
COMPENSATION : The recruiting base salary range for this full-time position is $83800 - $119600 / year. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
