Position Overview:
Operations Managers are responsible for the day-to-day operations and short/long-term planning for the groups they manage. They manage manufacturing, production control, engineering and inventory control, focusing on the development of technologies and continuous improvement and translating customer requirements into state-of-the-art manufacturing strategies for the focused process.
Responsibilities and Duties:

Responsibilities and Duties: Responsible for the day-to-day operations and longer-term planning for manufacturing functions, including manufacturing, production control, engineering, inventory control, purchasing, and quality.

Defines goals, improves technologies, and resolves problems.

Develops operations related plans, budgets, and policies and procedures.

Responsible for analyzing customer demand against existing capacity and driving effective and timely implementation of CER's to continuously improve deliveries, costs and quality.

Responsible for analyzing manufacturing variances and identifying root cause. Assign projects to owning disciplines for implementation of corrective action. Measure for effectiveness to continuously improve manufacturing margins.

Responsible for continuously improving standard costs. Assign projects for standard cost improvements. Measure for effectiveness of improvement to meet customers’ productivity expectations.

Responsible for analyzing delivery and quality constraints. Use DMAIC process to identify root cause and assign projects within team for implementation of corrective action. Measure for effectiveness to continuously improve and control delivery and quality performance.

Responsible for assessing skills within local control (plant) and matching skills to requirements. Identify areas where improvement of skills are required and implement training plan to meet requirements.

Responsible to continuously drive towards lean manufacturing through the elimination of redundancy and waste.

Responsible for focusing factory team on driving continuous improvement projects in quality, costs, and delivery, through KPI’s Lean Manufacturing) and philosophy.

Plays a key role in the capacity planning process and leads the implementation of new capacity when needed.

Leads the annual budgeting and monthly forecasting process for the value stream.

Works closely with the launch organization on the introduction of new products.

Responsible for year over year productivity, financial and safety improvement

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Business; with advanced degree preferred. Equivalent combination of education and additional operational experience will be considered.

Minimum five years’ experience working as a manufacturing manager and/or manufacturing manager.

Project leadership experience, with strong organization and project management skills.
-
Demonstrated knowledge of financial terms and concepts.
-
Knowledge of Operations Management and contemporary manufacturing/quality methods and systems.
-
Knowledge of Statistical Process Control.
-
Lean, Six Sigma, TPS, or DMAIC experience is strongly desired.
-
Demonstrated motivational and leadership skills.
-
Previous experience managing people and effective employee relation skills required.

Experience with computer-based Manufacturing Information Systems.
-
Experience with Inventory Management/Control systems.
-
Good working knowledge of MRP II planning and execution concepts preferred.
