The Production Supervisor will oversee daily operations of the coating shop, ensuring productivity, safety, and quality standards are met. This position involves managing a team of operators and technicians, coordinating workflow, and troubleshooting issues that arise in the coating process. The supervisor is responsible for maintaining a safe working environment, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring all production targets are achieved.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Team Leadership: Manage and supervise coating shop staff during the 2nd shift, including assigning tasks, providing guidance, and addressing performance issues.

Production Management: Oversee the coating operations to ensure production schedules are met while maintaining high quality and safety standards.

Safety: Ensure compliance with safety protocols and promote a safe working environment. Conduct regular safety audits and enforce corrective actions when necessary.

Quality Control: Monitor the quality of products being coated, perform inspections, and ensure adherence to customer specifications and internal quality standards.

Troubleshooting: Quickly identify and resolve issues in the coating process, machinery, or materials that could impact production or product quality.

Training & Development: Train and mentor new employees on the coating process, machine operation, and safety standards. Support team development by providing ongoing feedback and performance evaluations.

Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements, including efficiencies in workflow, waste reduction, and cost-saving measures.

Communication: Collaborate with the 1st shift supervisor, maintenance teams, and other departments to ensure smooth transitions between shifts and resolve any ongoing issues.

Reporting: Prepare and maintain daily production reports, document any downtime or production issues, and report findings to management.

DESIRED SKILLS

Strong leadership and organizational skills.

Ability to troubleshoot and resolve equipment or process-related issues.

Knowledge of coating processes, materials, and safety standards.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Proficiency in using production management and reporting software.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

3-5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or coating environment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
