What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Ed Paraprofessional position at Substitute Teacher Service?
STS is looking for a caring individual to support in the role of a paraeducator in the Secondary MDS classroom at Garden Spot Secondary campus.
- Supports the classroom teacher to implement the instructional program, including working directly with students in small groups or on a one-to-one basis as needed.
- Assists the certified teacher in the implementation of special strategies for reinforcing learning materials and skills based on a sympathetic understanding of the students, their needs, and abilities.
- Performs assigned supervision of students during lunch periods, recreational activities and/or on field trips.
Preferred candidate will:
-Possess the ability to work in a professional environment with special needs children for the complete school day.
-Exhibit high reliability standards.
-Willingness to provide support to the student(s) in various capacities; including but not limited to; personal care assistance (feeding/toileting), instructional support for previously introduced skills/lessons, progress monitoring and data collection.
-Strong written communication skills.
-High school diploma or equivalent certification, or higher education degree.
-Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected in the classroom teachers.
-Use of equipment as directed.
Hours: 7:10AM - 2:40PM (30 Minute unpaid/duty-free lunch)
Qualifications and Required Documents
- Pennsylvania Criminal Records check (Act 34)
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance History (Act 151)
- FBI Criminal History Record (Act 114)
- Proof of a TB test or chest x-ray that is less than two years old
- *Proof of a high school diploma or higher education (copy of transcripts/diploma acceptable)
- Additional required STS documents will be provided during on boarding process
