Superintendent
Subsurface Construction Company is a leading design-build geotechnical specialty contractor with offices located in Raleigh, NC and Greenville, SC. Specializing in the Southeast region, we design and implement solutions for excavation support and geotechnical construction: earth retention including soil nail walls, soldier pile walls and sheet pile walls, ground anchors, rock bolts and deep foundations including micropiles and aggregate piers. The superintendent is responsible for managing all day to day aspects of their assigned projects from the beginning through completion. Including: coordination of all construction activities with subcontractors; ensuring work is completed within quality and time frame expectations. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience as a Superintendent in Geotechnical Construction.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for safe working conditions for employees in compliance with OSHA requirements and company safety program.
- Complete all required safety training and model safety practices.
- Responsible for safety plan for assigned projects.
- Submits daily field reports on time and accurately.
- Inspects equipment on job for service intervals and relay any equipment issues to Mechanic immediately.
- Ensures work is built to plan and SCC Standard Procedures with no quality issues.
- Communicates with client, PM and General Superintendent of any deviation from set plan.
- Maintain production according to the weekly plan.
- Complete testing and submit data to Engineer.
- Manages performance of direct reports.
- Submits material delivery information, Visa, and Lowes Pro expenses daily.
- Manages subcontractors and job site deliveries.
- Determine appropriate tools and equipment needed for job and schedules/procures accordingly.
- Resolve problems in time to prevent work stoppage.
- Communicates effectively and cooperates with client, vendors and internal team.
- Maintains a clean and organized work environment (equipment, vehicle, job site, materials, tools).
- Identifies and informs the Project Manager of the need for change orders when they occur.
- Manage the completion of all Punch Lists.
- Participates in project evaluation sessions and uses this information on future projects.
- Participate in daily huddle to report on progress.
- Ensure timely and regular attendance.
- Other duties as assigned within the scope of employment.
Qualifications
- HS Diploma or GED with minimum of 10 years’ experience in Vertical Construction Management or related experience is required; or 4-year degree in Construction Management or similar field with minimum of 5 years experience.
- Forklift Certification.
- Must have a current and valid driver's license.
- OSHA certification a plus.
- Must have strong communications skills.
- Proficient in Outlook, Excel and Word.
- Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk and carry loads up to 100 pounds on uneven and sloping surfaces.
- Work outside in extreme heat and cold weather conditions.
- Walk, stand, and climb 4 to 6 hours per day.
- Twist and or reach to complete daily activities.
- Regularly required to use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls with proper PPE.
- Communicate verbally (both speaking and hearing) in potentially noisy environments.
- Must speak and understand English at a level appropriate to receive and comprehend specialized safety and training instructions in potentially noisy environments.
- Work in remote, difficult to access locations.
- Full time travel.
- Must be able to work up to 12 hour days; 7 days per week, if necessary.
