We are seeking a versatile and skilled Equipment Operator to join our team. This role requires an experienced operator who can work both in the seat and on the ground, with a deep understanding of the complexities of digging around existing homes and trailers, or in tight spaces. As a key part of our team, the ideal candidate must be comfortable with a variety of machines, including excavators, loaders, and compact track loaders (CTL), while also contributing to hands-on work and maintaining safety standards in dynamic work environments.

To perform this job successfully, a candidate must be highly proficient in the following essential skills and responsibilities :

Key Responsibilities

Operate a variety of heavy machinery, including excavators, loaders, and compact loaders to safely and efficiently dig around infrastructure.
Perform precise digging and excavation in sensitive areas, ensuring minimal disruption to existing utility systems.
Work alongside pipe crews installing and repairing water, sewer, and drainage systems.
Perform daily maintenance checks on equipment to ensure proper function and safety.
Ensure all excavation and construction work is conducted safely, adhering to proper excavation protocols, safety regulations, and company policies.
Collaborate with supervisors, field engineers, and other crew members to ensure the efficient and accurate completion of all tasks.
Work in open excavations or trench boxes installing pipe and drainage structures and assist in earthwork.
Maintain a high level of attention to detail, monitoring utility lines and other infrastructure while operating equipment.
Be flexible in job duties and willing to transition between equipment operation and other field tasks, including backfilling, pipe laying, or other manual labor.
Follow safety protocols, including the use of PPE, ensuring a safe working environment at all times.

Other Requirements

2 years minimum experience in Underground Construction, specifically utility installation and earthwork.

Ability to work 10-hour days, 5 days per week , and occasional Saturdays.

Willingness to travel and remain “out of town” for 2-3 weeks at a time (accommodations, per diems, airfare, and ground transportation provided as necessary).

Comfortable working in physically demanding environments, including trenches, confined spaces, and outdoor conditions (hot weather, rain, etc.).

Ability to stand, kneel, walk, lift, bend, stoop, push, and pull.

Capable of working around wet, dusty, or dirty conditions.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
