Business Development & Lead Generation:
- Prospecting: Identify and target potential clients, including RV and Trailer park owners, Big Box retail owners, Apartment complex owners, Campus-style Condominium managers and HOAs, municipalities, general contractors, developers, and utility companies, who require or could be interested in Trenchless Technologies underground utility construction solutions.
- Lead Qualification: Generate, qualify, and convert leads into long-term business opportunities by understanding client needs and proposing tailored solutions.
- Market Research: Conduct research to identify emerging trends, market demands, and potential areas for growth in the underground utility construction space.
- Networking: Attend industry events, conferences, and meetings to establish and nurture relationships with key decision-makers and influencers.
- Client Outreach: Make outbound calls, send proposals, and engage in in-person meetings with potential and existing clients to promote services.
- Account Management: Develop and maintain long-term relationships with key clients, ensuring customer satisfaction and repeat business opportunities.
- Solution Selling: Understand the client’s project needs and challenges, offering customized solutions that align with their objectives, timelines, and budgets.
- Contract Negotiation: Prepare and present proposals, contracts, and terms to potential clients. Negotiate pricing and scope of work to close sales.
- Project Follow-Through: Work closely with project managers and estimators to ensure smooth transitions from sales to project execution, ensuring customer expectations are met throughout the lifecycle of the project.
- Sales Goals: Achieve company -provided individual sales targets by identifying new business opportunities, managing the sales pipeline, and closing deals effectively.
- CRM Management: Maintain accurate records of sales activities, client interactions, and pipeline status using CRM software (e.g., PipeDrive, HubSpot, Act, etc.).
- Sales Reporting: Provide regular reports to senior management on sales performance, market trends, client feedback, and growth opportunities.
- Internal Coordination: Work closely with estimators, project managers, and operations teams to ensure client requirements and expectations are clearly communicated and met.
- Marketing Collaboration: Collaborate with the marketing team to create and distribute marketing materials, proposals, and presentations to support sales efforts.
- Client Education: Educate clients about Subterrain Technologies' Trenchless Technologies capabilities, services, and differentiators, positioning the company as a trusted partner in underground utility construction.
- Product Knowledge: Continuously update your knowledge of Subterrain Technologies' services, underground utility construction practices, and industry best practices.
- Competitive Landscape: Monitor competitors’ offerings, pricing, and service delivery models to keep Subterrain Technologies competitive in the market.
- Professional Growth: Stay informed about industry trends, attend relevant seminars, workshops, and training sessions to improve skills and stay current in the field.
Essential Skills:
- Sales Experience: 3 years of experience in sales, business development, or account management, ideally in underground utility construction.
- Industry Knowledge: A solid understanding of underground utility construction, and Trenchless Technologies including water, sewer, and storm sewer Pipe Bursting and Slip-lining.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present solutions clearly and persuasively to clients.
- Negotiation Skills: Proven track record of successful contract negotiations and closing sales.
- CRM Proficiency: Experience using a CRM system to manage leads, sales pipeline, and customer relationships.
- Customer-focused: Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with clients by understanding their needs and offering solutions that address their challenges.
- Construction Industry Contacts: Have an established network within the construction or underground utilities industry.
- Project Management Knowledge: Understanding of construction project timelines, budgets, and coordination, allowing for effective communication with internal teams and clients.
- Technical Acumen: Comfort discussing technical details of underground utility projects to include knowledge of Trenchless Technologies benefits and obstacles and collaborating with engineers and estimators to craft the best solutions for clients.
- A valid Driver’s License and clean driving record are required (and can be insurable).
- Ability to travel to client sites, project locations, and prospecting trips.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Occasional lifting of sales-related materials (e.g., presentations, documents, etc.).
- Ability to travel and present at Trade Shows, conferences and other gatherings within the Trenchless Technologies Underground Utilities space.
