Project Management:
- Planning & Scheduling: Develop detailed project plans and schedules, outlining tasks, milestones, and deadlines. Coordinate with project teams to allocate resources effectively.
- Budgeting & Cost Control Management: Modify as required by field conditions and with Senior Management approval and manage project budgets, tracking all project expenses and ensuring they stay within budget parameters.
- Procurement: Oversee the procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontractor services for underground utility installations, ensuring timely delivery and quality compliance.
- Quality Control: Ensure that all work meets the required specifications and complies with local codes and safety standards.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate project risks, addressing potential issues proactively to ensure project success.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, manage, and motivate a diverse team of tradespeople, laborers, and subcontractors. Assign daily tasks and ensure the team adheres to safety standards and project timelines.
- Workforce Coordination: Manage and coordinate day-to-day operations on the construction site, including labor, equipment, and materials for underground utility projects.
- Safety Management: Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols, particularly when working in trenches and excavations, and ensure that all workers comply with OSHA and other relevant regulations.
- Troubleshooting: Address and resolve any issues on-site, such as unexpected subsurface conditions, equipment breakdowns, or construction delays.
- Reporting: Provide regular project updates to clients, senior management, and stakeholders, including progress reports, budget status, and timelines.
- Client Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing concerns and ensuring their satisfaction with the progress and quality of work.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, surveyors, and subcontractors to ensure smooth execution of underground utility projects and resolve any design or technical issues.
- Documentation Management: Maintain detailed records of all project-related documentation, including contracts, change orders, and inspection reports.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the project complies with all local, state, and federal regulations, including safety codes, environmental guidelines, and building standards.
- Inspection & Audits: Coordinate and schedule inspections to ensure that work is done in compliance with approved designs and safety regulations.
Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in underground utility construction.
- Proven experience as an Onsite Superintendent in a similar supervisory role on underground utility construction projects.
- Strong understanding of repairing and remediation of existing underground infrastructure primarily utilizing trenchless techniques such as Pipe Bursting and Slip Lining.
- Familiarity with industry-specific safety regulations, including OSHA’s Trenching and Excavation certification (preferred).
- We work primarily in the Tampa Bay area but flexibility to travel within the State of Florida to fully understand and estimate a project may also be required.
- Strong leadership abilities with the capability to manage, train, and motivate construction teams.
- In-depth knowledge of underground utility (water, sewer, and storm sewer) systems and construction methods.
- Equally in-depth knowledge of Trenchless Technologies such as Pipe Bursting and Slip-Lining construction methods is HIGHLY preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Proficiency in project management software and basic office tools (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and utility maps.
- Strong problem-solving skills, particularly in identifying and addressing issues that arise during underground utility projects.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to ensure smooth interactions with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
Other Requirements:
- A valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record and be insurable.
- Ability to work on construction sites, often in outdoor and adverse weather conditions.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. (or more) and stand for extended periods.
- Comfort working in physically demanding environments, including trenches and excavations.
