We are currently looking for a Human Resource (HR) Analyst to play a pivotal role as a functional component to Suburban Propane's Benefits department in Whippany, NJ.

As an HR Analyst, you will not only collaborate with the Benefits department but serve as ancillary support to our HR Service Center by compiling, analyzing, and auditing benefits, payroll and other HR data across the organization. In developing a thorough knowledge of the company's benefit plans, and by helping to facilitate company-wide benefits administration and communications, you will have crucial involvement in the development of strategic HR initiatives and effectively ensure compliance at both state and federal levels.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with benefit changes, communication updates, HRIS system testing, and new vendor interfaces.
  • Research and respond to the HR Service Center on escalated benefit inquiries; handle ongoing active employee and retiree deaths, including beneficiary identification, correspondence and claim processing in accordance with our contract and the regulations.
  • Audit processing to maintain compliance and data integrity.
  • Create queries/compile data for analysis to comply with internal requests and government regulations, such as NJ and NY required self-funded disability reporting, PCORI, ACA, Medicare Creditable Coverage filing, etc.
  • Prepare reports of data results, presenting and summarizing findings to manager and colleagues.
  • Create communications and implement the annual Wellness program changes; compile and analyze engagement data to strategize on new ideas to drive satisfaction in the program.
  • Collaborate with the benefits team on strategic communications and presentations promoting our benefits and advising employees of changes; maintain benefit information on our Company intranet.
  • Calculate weekly funding of Flexible Spending and Health Savings Account plans and reconcile applicable accounts, following up with participants as needed.
  • Compile census data for carrier renewals and the marketing process, as well as for Cafeteria Plan and FSA nondiscrimination testing in accordance with Plan provisions.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of human resources experience with a focus on benefits.
  • Bachelors/Associates degree in Business Administration, HR, Industrial Psychology or a related field, or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP, CEBS or other professional HR Certification preferred; prior HR system experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as strong Excel and accounting skills needed to perform reconciliations.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, and handle multiple priorities in a high-pressure environment.
