What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elementary School Science Teacher position at Success Academy?
At Success Academy, we inspire children from low-income neighborhoods to develop a passion for scientific thinking and critical analysis. Our science program ignites a passion in scholars for scientific curiosity, empowering them to engage creatively, critically, and meaningfully with the world around them.
Scholars engage flexibly with different scientific disciplines, compelling them to see engineering, physics, mathematics, chemistry, and biology as all interdependent. We place a strong emphasis on scientific literacy, with special attention to reading, writing, and data literacy.
A background in education is not required. We provide you with extensive training and a proven curriculum so you can focus on working with your students instead of building lesson plans.
We offer unparalleled opportunities to gain valuable professional skills and advance rapidly with leadership opportunities available both in the classroom and outside. You will learn to assess and analyze data to chart your students' growth and achievement, and tailor your own teaching methods accordingly.
You must have:
- a bachelor's degree before your first day of work with Success Academy
- a rigorous and relevant academic major (e.g., biology, chemistry, physics, engineering)
- the ability to work in person in New York City ($2500 stipend for qualified relocations)
We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our organization. We actively seek applications from people of all backgrounds to strengthen our community and the perspectives needed to flourish in a multicultural world.
Success Academy offers a full benefits program and opportunities for professional growth.
