What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Science Instructor at Success Academy position at Success Academy?
The Science Program
At Success Academy, our Science program ignites a passion in scholars for scientific thinking and curiosity. We develop our scholars as citizens of science, empowering them to engage creatively, critically, and meaningfully with the world around them in ways that are endlessly fascinating, complex, and philosophical. Scholars engage flexibly with different scientific disciplines, compelling them to see engineering, physics, mathematics, chemistry, and biology as all interdependent.
The Job Description
As a science teacher in our network, you will engage scholars in various scientific disciplines, fostering a passion for inquiry and problem-solving while building strong relationships with students and their families. You will also participate in professional development opportunities with school leaders to benefit from targeted feedback and coaching to improve your performance. A bachelor's degree before your first day of work is required, as well as a rigorous and relevant academic major (i.e., biology, chemistry, physics, engineering). You must also be able to work in person in New York City ($2500 stipend for qualified relocations) and supervise a classroom of 20 students.
We Seek
We seek driven individuals who set ambitious goals for themselves and have never been afraid of putting in the hard work it takes to achieve them. You should enjoy taking the lead and inspiring others with your passion and commitment. A background in education is not required, as we provide extensive training and a proven curriculum so you can focus on working with your students instead of building lesson plans.
