POSITION SUMMARY
This is an Adjunct faculty position directly reports to the Chair of the Science Department and the Dean and Assistant of the Nursing Program Dean of RN Program. Plans, teaches, directs, and supervises all student learning experiences in the classroom following the curriculum of the college approved by the Accreditation Bureau.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for instructing others about the structure and content of the English Literature and language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Assigns books and essays for students to read and teaches them how to identify themes, points of view, and other characteristics.
- Analyze types of writing, audiences and purposes.
- Apply prewriting strategies such as brainstorming, idea mapping and outlining to plan writing tasks.
- Employ techniques, such as observing, recording, summarizing, analyzing, classifying, interpreting, comparing, defining, arguing and/or instructing for effective writing.
- Examine student and professional writing for rhetorical elements, strengths and weaknesses.
- Write unified essays whose central ideas are expressed by clear thesis statements and topic sentences.
- Provide support for thesis statements and topic sentences through the use of relevant details, examples, reasons, facts, data and quotations.
- Demonstrate appropriate writing competencies in advancing, addressing and expressing ideas within academic disciplines.
- Evaluate writing through revising, editing and proofreading effectively to achieve coherence and avoid grammatical errors.

- Enthusiasm for education and working with students
- Experience with or willingness to explore innovative teaching methodologies in addition to lecture mode
- Ability to apply scientific expertise in a manner/context that is relevant to school’s student population
- Experience working with a diverse, multilingual student population is desired
- Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Master’s degree in English or related field
- High School Diploma
