This role is responsible for making critical electrical design determinations under the direction of the Project Manager, ensuring the successful execution of projects in alignment with our company's mission and objectives. Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the electrical technical content of projects, ensuring safety and accuracy through engineering formulas and best practices.
Conduct thorough reviews of project designs for compliance with applicable state, local, and federal codes, including NEC, NFPA 72, and 101.
Monitor construction progress and address construction administration correspondence to provide timely responses to RFIs and related inquiries.
Review and evaluate design projects developed by other teams.
Participate in electrical engineering discipline standards meetings to ensure best practices are upheld.
Identify and select appropriate equipment from manufacturer catalogs and websites for specific applications.
Collaborate with clients and project managers to align project objectives with client expectations.
Conduct on-site investigations and surveys to inform design strategies.
Prepare detailed electrical specifications from inception to completion.
Coordinate contract documents across engineering disciplines and architectural details, attending coordination meetings with owners and architects.
Provide technical guidance to contractors throughout the construction phase.
Prepare reports, analyses, and recommendations for the Project Manager regarding project direction.
Ensure timely project completion, adhering to schedules and budget constraints.
Effectively plan and allocate time for engineers and designers to ensure efficient project execution.
Mentor junior engineers, providing technical guidance and professional development support.
Utilize AutoCAD and Revit for drafting and design work.
Present electrical designs to owners and architects as required.
Serve as a field engineer during the construction phase of projects.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equivalent education and experience.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience working with electrical systems.
Proven expertise in building operations, energy use, and electrical systems design.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit for drafting and design.
In-depth knowledge of electrical engineering codes, including NEC, NFPA 72, and NFPA 101.
Ability to travel and visit work sites as necessary to accommodate client, contractor, and building manager schedules.
Commitment to ongoing professional development through industry conferences, scientific literature, and participation in relevant organizations (e.g., NFPA, IES).
Professional Engineer (PE) license is strongly preferred.
