Job Description
SENIOR ENGINEER
Reports to : Associate Engineer and Principal Engineer
A Senior Engineer should possess the ability to prepare all types of geotechnical investigations
performed by the company. A Senior Engineer should have a Bachelor's degree and preferably a
Master's degree in civil engineering (or closely related field) and should be a registered Civil
Engineer in the State of California and is highly encouraged to also register as a Geotechnical
Engineer. A Senior Engineer works independently on all but the most complicated engineering
projects and his / her work is reviewed by the Associate Engineer and / or Principal Engineer.
A Senior Engineer, under general supervision from an Associate Engineer and / or Principal
Engineer, is responsible for planning, developing, and coordinating a large number of projects for
which lower-level engineers provide the primary input. A Senior Engineer is highly encouraged
to contact current and prospective clients. A Senior Engineer prepares budgets, proposals, and
SOQ documents (all subject to review by the Associate Engineer and / or the Principal Engineer).
Typical responsibilities :
- Prepare all but the most complicated reports with minimal supervision
- Work on litigation projects and provide expert witness services (at the direction of the
Associate Engineer and / or Principal Engineer)
potential future projects
