General position summary:
The Sustainability Program Manager will oversee and implement strategies to reduce waste and promote sustainability in our Workplace operations. This role is critical in ensuring that we meet our environmental targets, comply with regulations, and enhance our reputation as a green moving company.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Establish and manage programs to recycle and repurpose materials, ensuring maximum diversion from landfills.
- Develop and implement comprehensive waste reduction plans to encourage client accounts to be willing to fund ways to minimize landfill contributions from commercial moving activities.
- Collaborate with recycling facilities, charitable organizations, and other partners to ensure effective waste management solutions.
- Work parallel with project teams to vet beneficiaries, obtain client approvals of local charities and proposed disposition plans.
- Schedule inventories and decommissions with operations to verify proper data is collected for offering furniture on Suddath Storefront and removed in a timely manner.
- Conduct training sessions for staff to promote waste reduction practices and educate them on the importance of sustainability.
- Track, analyze, and report on waste metrics and sustainability performance, providing insights to improve processes.
- Ensure all waste management practices comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Work with clients to develop customized waste reduction plans and provide guidance on sustainable moving practices.
Job Skills Required:
- Strong understanding of waste reduction strategies, recycling processes, and relevant regulations.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to work with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong communication, and analytical skills.
- Established customer service and presentation skills

Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Sustainability, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in waste management, sustainability, or related roles.
- Certifications in waste management or sustainability (e.g., LEED, SWANA) are a plus.
Language Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Operations:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to learn and effectively use software applications such as move management, accounting/billing, HRIS (Human Resources Information System), timekeeping and other applications used in the performance of job duties.

- Ability to prioritize and re-prioritize as situations and needs change throughout the workday
- Ability to multi-task and organize workflow to manage daily responsibilities, meet deadlines and prioritize work
