What are the responsibilities and job description for the Provisional – Office Systems Analyst II (Grade 21) position at Suffolk County Community College?
Announcement is hereby made for a full-time Office Systems Analyst II position in the Central Infrastructure Office on the Ammerman Campus in Selden. Suffolk County Community College is an open admissions institution committed to serving a diverse student population in a variety of degree and career programs.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assists in server updates and backup of camera and card access systems;
- Installs and modifies networks and systems as needed for camera systems and access control systems;
- Helps maintain backup power infrastructure for server and data environments;
- Reviews, updates and maintains operations and systems including computers, networks, peripheral equipment and other hardware and software within the college;
- Determines the need for installation and/or modification of new or existing equipment;
- Recommends the systems equipment and design that will best improve operations;
- Recommends standards for hardware, software and peripherals;
- Recommends and plans for hardware and software upgrades;
- Recommends modifications and the creation of new programs to systems that will improve the effectiveness of the system and departmental operations;
- Trains support staff and professional staff in the use of information technology;
- Provides in-house technical support for questions and problems;
- Develops applications and files design;
- Updates manuals to reflect changes of information technology procedures and provides program documentation.
A) Graduation from a college with federally-authorized accreditation or registration by NY State with a Bachelor's Degree which includes, or is supplemented by, twelve (12) credits in information technology or a computer related field, and two (2) years of experience in the installation, analysis, design and/or selection of information technology networks and systems; or,
B) Graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, and six (6) years of experience in the installation, analysis, design and/or selection of information technology networks and systems; or,
C) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of A) and B)
NOTE: Coursework in information technology from a non-degree-granting computer training institution may be accepted based upon credit hour equivalence.
SPECIAL NOTE: Because of the rapid evolution of technology in this field five (5) years of qualifying experience must have been gained within the last six (6) years.
Position is eligible for medical benefits as offered by the College. Starting salary range $54,392.40 - $59,821.20 in accordance with Suffolk County Civil Service and AME contract.
Provisional Appointment: This position requires an appointment from a certified eligible list and currently there is no established list. For you to become a permanent employee, you must pass the examination and be reachable (Rule of Three) on the certified eligible list that results from the civil service examination for this position.
