Suffolk County District Attorney's Office
Central, NY Full Time
POSTED ON 4/3/2025

Introduction:
The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office is one of the largest prosecutorial offices in the country. Suffolk County is geographically the second largest county in New York State, extending 86 miles in length from it's furthest points. Due to this, Suffolk County has an expansive network of roadways to support it's population of over 1.5 million residents.

Since taking office, District Attorney Tierney has prioritized the prosecution of vehicular-related offenses, including expanding the Vehicular Crime Bureau, working closely with New York State legislators to close loopholes in the law related to drugged driving, and educating the public on the importance of safe driving practices. Housed within special investigation due to the extreme amount of technical proficiency required for crash data analysis and information recovery, Vehicular Crime Bureau prosecutors investigate any vehicular incident that results in serious physical injury or death.

We are currently looking for an experienced attorney to join our office's Vehicular Crime Bureau.

Qualifications:
An ideal applicant for this position will have been an Assistant District Attorney for a minimum of five years, and have experience prosecuting vehicular crimes, including DWIs, drugged driving, reckless driving, hit-and-runs, vehicular assault, vehicular manslaughter, and other related offenses. Vehicular Crime Bureau prosecutors are involved vertically from inception of each case and thus, are "on-call" during certain periods of time throughout the year, including overnights, weekends, and holidays. Candidates must understand that they will be required to respond to crash scenes and secure search warrants, sometimes within minutes of response.

Other requirements of the position will include traveling within the jurisdiction to appear in court.

Working in Suffolk:
Suffolk County is really an extraordinary community to be a part of, with vibrant downtowns, close proximity to New York City, stunning beaches (with over 1,000 miles of coastline), and a world class winery scene that attracts millions of visitors each year.
