Suffolk University invites qualified candidates to apply for our Student Financial Services Counselor position. This position, along with others in the Office of Student Financial Services, reports to the Assistant VP / Director of Student Financial Services. Counselors primarily assist students and parents with offering financing options and with negotiating the financial aid application process. Counselors also serve as a liaison with a variety of on-campus offices, departments, and organizations. In addition, Counselors represent the Office of Student Financial Services on university committees such as Retention and Orientation.

PRIMARY / PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES :
- GRADUATE STUDENT CASELOAD : Serve as designated financial aid counselor for approximately one-half of the graduate student population. Responsible for all aspects of awarding financial aid to a portion of the Graduate student population.
- PROCESS PRIVATE EDUCATIONAL LOANS : Determine and certify eligibility for these programs for all University students. Certify and ensure compliance for all private, alternative educational loans. Conduct annual RFI to determine recommended alternative educational lenders.
- EXIT COUNSELING : Ensure compliance with this federal requirement for all University students. Provide exit counseling materials in accordance with federal regulations to all graduating and non-enrolled students.
- FINANCIAL COUNSELING : Provide information to prospective and current students on financial aid and payment programs. Counsel students / parents on criteria and selection process for merit and need-based programs, aid application procedures, and federal, state, and institutional financial aid policies. Counsel students / parents on specific loan terms, repayment requirements, deferments, and forbearance procedures. Offer presentations on financial aid at university-sponsored events such as Admissions Info sessions, Suffolk Showcase, and Family Weekend.
- OTHER MISCELLANEOUS TASKS AS NEEDED.
