The Vehicle Tax Credit Development Officer plays a key role in managing Florida’s motor vehicle tax election program, which allows vehicle purchasers and registrants to allocate a portion of their state sales tax (up to $105) to fund K-12 Florida Tax Credit (FTC) Scholarships. This scholarship provides Florida parents with the opportunity to choose the best educational environment for their children, including private schooling. The Vehicle Tax Credit Development Officer works closely with automobile dealerships, private tag agencies, and county tax collector offices to ensure the proper completion of the Contribution Election Form DR-HS1. Additionally, this role collaborates with the Senior Development Officer and cross-functional teams to increase the number of tax election customer presentations, the primary funding source for the program. This remote position, covering the west coast of Florida, requires some travel and reports to the Senior Development Officer for the FTC Scholarship Program.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage vehicle tax credit development projects from inception to completion.
Collaborate with top stakeholders including Senior Development Officer and other members of the Development Team to ensure alignment and successful project outcomes.
Works with other departments within Step Up and outside partners on special events to raise awareness of our donors and the FTC Program.
Develop and implement community outreach strategies to increase awareness of the vehicle tax election contribution during the car buying or registration process.
Plan and administer donor recognition initiatives and trade show participation.
Oversee the work of the department, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality deliverables.
Manage time and diverse activities under deadlines while delivering quality results.
Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
Communicate project status and updates to senior management and other stakeholders.
Stay current with industry trends and best practices to continuously improve development processes.
Persuasively convey the mission of SUFS to diverse groups including donors, corporate executives, board members and others who are important to the organization’s overall prosperity.
Ability to determine an individual’s interests, capacity, and potential for helping SUFS meet its goals, and act appropriately to tie those interests with SUFS’s work.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Required
Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 5 years high level fundraising experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience in major gifts, direct fundraising, and/or successful sales experience.
Demonstrated success and a proven track record in professional/life experience in specific job functions, projects, or industries, and military service can substitute for the formal education requirements.
Knowledge of databases, Internet, and personal productivity software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint is required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Preferred
Sales and/or finance background preferred, but not required.

Salary : $65,000 - $70,000
