GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Controls Systems Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining control systems for our processes. This will include programming, troubleshooting, and optimizing programmable logic controllers (PLCs), supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, and human-machine interfaces (HMIs). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in controls engineering and a passion for creating efficient and effective solutions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Process control system design and maintenance to include PLC detail specification, configuration, and programming.
- Maintain control system directories; create new displays and other supporting HMI development activities.
- Support and maintain existing controls applications with upkeep, troubleshooting and creating new features.
- Support small to mid-size controls projects to maintain design criteria, schedule, and budget.
- Testing, commissioning, and start-up of systems.
- Work cross-functionally with all functional groups to support, maintain, train, and improve manufacturing and other business processes.
- Actively participate in plant wide HSE, quality and productivity initiatives.
- Train employees on I & C topics and motivate hourly technicians to develop ownership skills.
- PLCs system design to include, interfacing with MCC's, VFD's and Process Instrumentation.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Proficient in reading and interpreting piping and instrumentation technical diagrams and schematics.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- 4-year-degree from an accredited program in Electrical or Computer Engineering or similar combination of education and work history.
- Work history of 5 years in a process plant environment.
- PLC programming abilities across various platforms.
- HMI development abilities across various platforms.
- Experience with hardware and software including: Allen-Bradley, GE, Cimplicity
- OEM systems startup and integration.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), required.
- Knowledge and experience utilizing multiple PLC platforms (Allen-Bradley, Rockwell, GE, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of industrial plant maintenance and troubleshooting.
- GE Cimplicity experience preferred.
- Networking experience.
- SQL and Database experience.
- Low Voltage Electrical experience.
- Ability to use multi-meter.
- Maintain software and networking documentation.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Regular attendance is required during normal working hours.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Frequent walking, standing, kneeling, reaching and stair climbing.
- Occasional lifting of 25 pounds.
