GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Progressive, forward-thinking individual who will support the Director of Engineering in developing, managing, and optimizing improvement projects associated with the operation and maintenance of a large industrial manufacturing facility. Develop ACAD drawings as required to support feasibility studies and decision making.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform duties as assigned for the Engineering and Project department.
- Prepare Mechanical Calculations and generate sketches/drawings as needed to support projects and operations.
- Create and manage a database of documents for the Engineering department (Drawings and Calculations, Historical data).
- Help develop solutions to operational problems and bottlenecks.
- Evaluate designs against industry standards
- Review designs for compliance with standards and specifications.
- Creating multiple iterations of design prototypes using computer aided tools.
- Utilize 3D modeling tools to facilitate project development and documenting processes.
- Assist with scope of works development for project design and implementation.
- Performs other related projects and assignments as business dictates.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to work with employees and managers at all levels.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management to meet deadlines.
- Advanced analytical skills with the proven ability to communicate complex data to various stakeholders.
- Strong computer competency and proficiency in MS office, AutoCad and CAD 3D.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or relevant discipline, from an Accredited Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) institution.
- Five or more years of experience in mechanical design and drawings.
- Working towards achieving the Professional Engineer (PE) License is a plus.
- Experience with 3D modelling platforms, preferably focused on industrial process-based design.
- Experience with engineering design standards and organization.
- Experience with ASME (Sec. I, V, VIII, IX, B31.1, B31.3, etc.) is a plus.
- Reliability experience is a plus.
- Sugar Mill or Power Plant experience is a plus.
- Metal Fabrication experience is a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Regular attendance is required during normal working hours.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to perform all duties within an environment that includes heat, cold, stairs, ramps, uneven walking surfaces, noise, and dust.
