GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Operation of farm tractors, combines, and related farming equipment for the purpose of land preparation and farm maintenance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operation of farm tractors, combines, and related farming equipment to perform tasks such as, but not limited to discing, plowing, and cultivating.
- As needed, mixing / applying fertilizers, herbicides / insecticides, mowing and earth moving.
- Perform basic maintenance on farm equipment on both a visual and mechanical basis utilizing computer diagnostics (via computer dashboard).
- Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with OSHA Standards and perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Performs other related projects and assignments as business dictates.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to utilize an on-board computer dashboard & Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment and properly handling, measuring and applying various farm related chemicals.
- Basic level computer / GPS and mechanical skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
- Bilingual and Biliterate – English and Spanish, preferred.
LICENSES REQUIRED:
- Regular Class “E” Driver’s license.
- Florida Pesticide Applicator Certification and License, preferred.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
- 1 year of farm equipment operating experience (tractors, combines, discs, plows, cultivating and chemical application equipment)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Regular attendance is required during your scheduled shift.
- Must be able to work in hot, cold, wet, humid, dusty, and foggy working conditions depending on weather.
- Must be able to work in all positions (overhead, kneeling, reaching, crawling & working in small workspaces) & be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
