Position Overview:

We are seeking a mission-aligned, passionate, and dedicated 7th Grade Science Theory Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will cultivate scientific curiosity, promote critical thinking, and deliver engaging, theory-based instruction that deepens students' understanding of scientific concepts and principles.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction & Classroom Management:
- Develop and implement standards-aligned science lessons focused on theoretical foundations in life, physical, and earth sciences.
- Utilize inquiry-based instruction to help students explore and understand scientific theories, principles, and laws.
- Engage students in analytical discussions, thought experiments, and conceptual modeling to promote a deeper understanding of science.
- Use data-driven instruction to assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
- Create a structured, engaging, and intellectually stimulating classroom environment that fosters exploration and critical thinking.
Student Support & Engagement:
- Build strong relationships with students while maintaining high academic and behavioral expectations.
- Encourage scientific literacy, curiosity, and a growth mindset through inquiry and discussion-based learning.
- Integrate real-world applications, case studies, and cross-disciplinary connections to make science relevant and meaningful.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, strengths, and areas for growth.
- Ensure student safety and engagement through consistent supervision and by following and implementing the school-wide behavior plan.
Collaboration & Professional Growth:
- Actively seek and apply feedback to enhance instructional practices and student learning outcomes.
- Work closely with grade-level teams to align science instruction with interdisciplinary learning experiences.
- Participate in planning and coaching sessions with curriculum leaders and instructional coaches.
- Engage in ongoing professional development focused on inquiry-based instruction, STEM education, and student-centered learning strategies.
- Contribute to the school community through team meetings, committees, and school events.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Education, or a related field (required).
- Valid teaching license or eligibility for licensure in North Carolina (preferred).
- Experience teaching middle school science with a focus on conceptual and theoretical instruction (preferred but not required).
- Strong classroom management skills and a commitment to high expectations for all students.
