DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Supervise and coordinate activity of workers engaged in verifying and keeping record of incoming and outgoing shipments, and preparing items for shipment. Determine shipping priorities, work assignments, shipping methods, space requirements, and position of shipment in trucks required to meet shipping and receiving schedules. Prepare composite reports from individual reports of subordinates.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervise workers engaged in verifying and keeping record of incoming and outgoing shipments. • Coordinate activity of workers preparing items for shipment. • Oversee incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments including AQLs for premium raw material. • Determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules. • Determine space requirements and position of shipment in trucks and lay out position of shipment. • Determine routing and legal load limits of trucks in accordance with established schedules and weight limits of states. • Inspect loading operation to ensure compliance with shipping specifications, and seals loaded truck doors. • Inspect material handling equipment for defects and notify maintenance personnel or outside contacts for repair. • Direct movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas. • Prepare composite reports from individual reports of subordinates. • Compile records of unfilled orders. • Post weight and shipping charges • Follow Sugar Creek’s safety rules and procedures, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience. EXPERIENCE: 1-2 years of related experience or equivalent education. CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE: None required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Employee regularly exposed to extreme cold and loud noise. Physical requirements are consistent with facility shipping and receiving-type positions, including considerable use of arms and legs, moving whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling of tools. In an average work day, Shipping and Receiving Supervisor is in these positions for the following number of hours per day: sitting 0-1 hours; standing 2-4 hours; wakling 5-7 hours. In an average work day, Shipping and Receiving Supervisor must have the following abilities: lift/carry less than 50 lbs occasionally; handle objects/manual dexterity constantly; reaching upward/outward as needed; climbing stairs occasionally; bending/squatting as needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT All work is performed in an indoor, manufacturing facility with close proximity to heavy and hazardous machinery. Some work is performed in a comfortable, indoor, office-like facility. Very little work is performed outside of the manufacturing facility. Safety wear is required, including hard hat, hairnet, hearing protection, safety glasses, steel toe boots, coats and other necessary equipment.
