OVERVIEW

A Welder Construction Specialist is a skilled professional responsible for joining metal parts using a variety of welding techniques. They play a crucial role in the construction industry, working on structures such as buildings, bridges, and pipelines. This position requires a deep understanding of welding processes, safety protocols, and construction standards.

Welding and Fabrication Responsibilities

  • Perform welding tasks using various welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux-cored arc welding.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine the welding requirements.
  • Read survey plans and transport elevations with the transit theodolite.
  • Prepare and align metal parts before welding to ensure precise and accurate welds.
  • Fabricate and assemble metal structures and components according to specifications and project requirements.
  • Organize and direct employees during the construction process.

Quality Control

  • Inspect welded joints and structures to ensure they meet industry standards and project specifications.
  • Identify and repair any defects or imperfections in the welds.
  • Maintain detailed records of welding activities, including the types of welds performed, materials used, and any issues encountered.
  • Safety and Compliance

  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as helmets, gloves, and safety glasses.
  • Ensure welding equipment is properly maintained and in safe working condition.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal regulations regarding welding and construction practices.
  • Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a formal welding training program or apprenticeship.
  • Several years of experience in welding, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency in various welding techniques and the ability to work with different types of metals.
  • Strong understanding of welding symbols, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to produce high-quality work.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy materials and equipment.
  • Comfortable working in various outdoor conditions, including extreme temperatures and weather.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Must be able to pass a physical and drug screening
