Job Summary
This position is responsible for Coordinating and Dispatch of fleet drivers. Assist drivers with all operational matters. Responsibilities will also include tracking drivers for on time delivery and reschedule of all late loads, communicate all delays and alternate plan. Responsibilities also include curtailing dead head miles and increasing productivity.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities
- Coordinate and dispatch drivers using OTM and ELD system
- Be systems literate to learn internal ERP system
- Understand DOT, FMCSA, CSA, UIIA, laws and requirements

Understanding of key point indicators and their effects on financials
- Days out, dead head miles, out of route miles, driver and equipment utilization
- Appointment scheduling of single stop loads, Multi-stop OTR 6 stops or less, Truckload of LTL freight greater than 6 stops
- Responsible for transportation, routing and rescheduling any missed deliveries

Responsible for assigning driver to loads methodology
- FIFO, Transit times, Hours of service
- Responding to customer service inquiries on loads. Keeping to our mission statement “The Customer is King”
- Responsible for entering pick-up and delivery appointments in OTM system
- Tracking and communicating to drivers to ensure on time pickup and delivery
- Work with Fleet team, drivers and operations to develop best practice solutions for challenges that arise
- Identify areas of improvement and communicate to team in daily meetings
- Supply POD’s for external and internal customers
- Provide additional driver training as needed
- Must be on time and prepared for all meetings
- Understanding and responsible for getting backhauls
- Ensure drivers have all communication, supplies, training needed
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Minimum 2 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 3 years experience in transportation/logistics
- Knowledge of geography a must
- Must understand DOT/HOS rules and regulations
- Experience with TMS or OTM system preferred
- Experience with ELDs or OBRs preferred
- Experience with appointing in electronic scheduling systems. Retalix, One Network, etc. preferred
- PC literate to include Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP) and Outlook
Essential Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Professional email and phone etiquette
- Must be able to maintain an even temperament in stressful situations
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Must have the ability to multi-task in fast paced environment
- Must have dispatch experience in OTR and or multi-stop LTL
- Background in Truckload transportation/Operation
