Cashier/Customer Service
We are a local, family-owned, independent bakery looking to hire seasonal, part-time positions at two of our Bakersfield locations.
Our team members are passionate about producing high quality products and serving our customers with the best customer service for our local community. We are constantly striving to improve ourselves so we can better service our customers. If you’re the right person for this opportunity, you will have previous experience providing customer service at a restaurant, have a great attitude with great communication skills.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A cashier's responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Provide excellent customer service
- Assist customers with all food and bakery orders: place, prepare, and package orders
- Assist customers with all drinks and beverages orders
- Label all products for product display cases
- Package all products for efficiency and presentation
- Organize and rotate stock as necessary
- Stock, refill, and count inventory
- Set up and fill display case products daily to Sugar Twist's guideline and specification
- Operate a Point Of Sale system to perform sales transactions for customers
- Count cash accurately for sales transactions
- Must know all product prices and accurately account for each product during sales transactions
- Perform tasks in a timely manner to ensure customer care
- Able and willing to handle and record any customer complaints or evaluations
- Be accountable for inventory and work stations
- Must work well with others and independently without direction
- Sanitation, cleanliness, and personal hygiene are a must
- Professionalism, friendliness, teamwork, and smiles are necessary
- Maintaining Sugar Twist's high standards for product freshness and sanitation
- Following Sugar Twist's guidelines and store policies
- Know custom ordering process to fill customer's requests
- Training other associates as needed
- Keep work area clean and clean up before leaving for shift, includes washing all tools and supplies
- Clean all assigned areas and equipment
- Operate a commercial espresso machine
- Complete other tasks/duties as assigned/requested by Shift Leader and/or Manager
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Able and willing to read, write and perform simple math problems
- Able and willing to deliver friendly, courteous, prompt customer service
- Able and willing to interpret, understand, follow instructions, and most importantly solve problems
- Able and willing to work independently and with a diverse team of talented individuals
- Able and willing to work well with others as a team member

- Able and willing to work quickly and under pressure while producing great customer service
- Able and willing to work in a fast-paced environment, long hours on weekends, working early morning or evening shifts, long hours on days leading up to holidays
- Able and willing to work on all holidays in which Sugar Twist Bakery is opened for business

OPPORTUNITIES
- Part time hours are available immediately
- Full time hours are available upon seasons
WORK CONDITIONS
- Cashier's duties are performed in the customer counter area, dining area, and kitchen
- Exposure to various temperatures in kitchen
- Work includes walking, standing, bending, lifting, and carrying products
- Duties also include repetitive arm and hand movements for at least 90 percent of the work day
- Working in a tight kitchen space due to the large number of products on the Sugar Twist menu
