What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Professional position at Sugarbush Assisted Living?
We will be hosting open interviews on April 15th from 10am-2pm at our Sugarbush Manor community. Sugarbush Manor is located at G-3237 Beecher Rd Flint, MI 48532.
Candidates for this position must have prior experience working with seniors in an assisted living or nursing home enviornment.
Sugarbush Living provides assisted living, memory, hospice, and respite care in a comfortable homelike environment for our residents. We currently operate four 6 bed residential communities and one 14 room community in the Flint area. Our team of caregivers are an essential part of the caregiving team tasked with the care and well-being of our residents throughout our communities.
Responsibilities for Direct Support Professionals include, but are not limited to:
- Provide direct support and assistance to residents in a home care setting
- Assist with meal preparation and ensure dietary needs are met
- Help residents with personal care tasks, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Administer medications according to prescribed schedules
- Assist with mobility and lifting as needed
- Maintain a clean and organized living environment for residents
- Implement behavior management strategies to promote a positive and safe living environment
- Foster social interactions and engage residents in meaningful activities
Requirements for a Direct Support Professional include, but are not limited to:
- Previous experience in direct support or a related field is preferred
- Reliable transportation to work in our communities.
- Knowledge of systems and procedures related to home care services
- Ability to lift and assist with the transfer of residents using proper lifting techniques
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Compassionate and patient demeanor when working with individuals with varying needs and abilities
