What you'll do:

  • Bar Back Prep and Setup: Arrange and organize the bar area prior to service, including setting up glassware, tools (shakers, strainers, jiggers), garnishes, and ice stations to ensure a seamless and elegant presentation.
  • Stocking: Maintain an impeccable inventory by stocking the bar with premium spirits, mixers, wines, beers, and non-alcoholic beverages; replenish supplies throughout the event to guarantee uninterrupted service.
  • Drink Preparation: Craft signature cocktails, pour wines and beers, and mix bespoke beverages from the exclusive Sugarland menu with precision and artistry, tailoring offerings to guest preferences and wedding themes.
  • Appetizer Preparation: Prepare and present light appetizers or bar snacks (e.g., garnished olives, nuts, or curated pairings) as specified, enhancing the beverage experience with complementary flavors.
  • Guest Interaction: Engage with wedding guests warmly and attentively, offering personalized drink recommendations, accommodating special requests, and ensuring every interaction reflects Sugarland’s commitment to exceptional service.
  • Breakdown Duties: Efficiently dismantle the bar station post-event, including cleaning and sanitizing tools, glassware, and surfaces; properly storing unused inventory and disposing of waste in accordance with safety standards.
  • Table Service Coordination: Collaborate with the service team to deliver drinks and appetizers to tables during key moments (e.g., toasts, cocktail hour), ensuring a polished and synchronized experience.
  • Event Flow Support: Assist with timing and execution of beverage-related wedding highlights, such as champagne toasts or signature couple cocktails, aligning with the event schedule and coordinator’s direction.
  • Safety and Compliance: Uphold all alcohol service regulations, monitor guest consumption responsibly, and maintain a clean, hazard-free bar environment to prioritize safety and enjoyment.
  • Team Collaboration: Partner with fellow bartenders, servers, and event staff to anticipate needs, troubleshoot challenges, and deliver a cohesive, high-caliber guest experience throughout the celebration.

What you'll need:

  • Must align and represent Sugarland’s service of excellence
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Preferred experience with pouring wines and beers, and managing a fast-paced bar environment.
  • Responsible Beverage Server Certification: Valid Wisconsin Operator’s License (or equivalent) and completion of a state-approved Responsible Beverage Server Training course, ensuring compliance with alcohol laws and safe service practices.
  • Exceptional Guest Service Skills: A natural ability to engage guests with warmth, attentiveness, and poise, coupled with a passion for creating memorable experiences tailored to individual preferences.
  • Mixology: Advanced knowledge of classic and contemporary cocktail recipes, including the ability to innovate and adapt drinks to suit wedding themes or special requests, showcasing creativity and precision.
  • Physical Stamina and Dexterity: Capability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs (e.g., cases of liquor or ice), and perform tasks requiring fine motor skills, such as garnishing and pouring, with elegance and efficiency.
  • Team Collaboration: Proven experience working harmoniously with event staff, servers, and coordinators to deliver seamless service, with a proactive approach to anticipating and addressing team needs.
  • Attention to Detail: Keen eye for presentation, from drink aesthetics to bar cleanliness, ensuring every element reflects Sugarland’s commitment to excellence and sophistication.
  • Adaptability Under Pressure: Resilience in high-energy wedding settings, with the ability to multitask, prioritize guest satisfaction, and troubleshoot challenges while maintaining composure and professionalism.
  • Food and Beverage Pairing Knowledge: Familiarity with preparing and presenting light appetizers or bar snacks, with an understanding of complementary flavors to enhance the overall guest experience.
  • Professional Appearance: Polished and approachable demeanor, with a commitment to upholding Sugarland’s elevated brand image through attire and conduct.
  • Availability for Wedding Events: Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as dictated by wedding schedules, with reliable transportation to venue in and around Arena, WI.
  • Ability to stand and walk up to 10 hours per shift
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to perform essential functions to Sugarland’s standards and with reasonable accommodation
