What are the responsibilities and job description for the Experienced Sushi Chef position at Sugo Handroll Bar?
Pay: We offer base wage pooled tips. The base wage for this position is $23-25 DOE an estimated $10-15/hour in additional tip wages.
About Us:
Sugo is a fine-casual sushi bar with a focus on the hand roll. Bringing a fresh take to the classic hand roll, we aim to provide an experience that delights and engages the guest. The sushi program at Sugo is expanding to include nigiri, maki and cut rolls in the near future and we are seeking experienced chefs to help us expand our menu.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop professionally in an exciting new restaurant concept in the Seattle area. We will be in rapid growth for the coming years and are looking for individuals who are passionate about the food and beverage industry and are dedicated to their career growth.
About the Job:
You will be a central component in ensuring a best-in-class guest experience in a fresh, new concept. Recurring responsibilities include:
- Ensuring high-quality of food preparation
- Maintaining a clean and organized workstation with practicing safe and sanitary food handling at all times
- Preparing food based on recipes and techniques with superb attention to detail and consistency
- Approaching interactions with co-workers and guests in a respectful & solution-oriented manner
About You:
We are seeking chefs who can perform these skills at a competent level:
- Able to make nigiri, sashimi and maki
- Competent in fish butchery
- Sharpen personal knives using a whetstone
- Able to prepare vegetables for sushi using katsuramuki techniques
Additionally, we seek candidates who have/are:
- Strong communication and organization skills
- Ability to adapt successfully in a fast-paced environment
- Devoted to consistency and passionate about great food experience
