Position Summary
The Maintenance Shift Manager will oversee a team of skilled technicians responsible for performing repairs and preventive maintenance to ensure the reliable operation of the beverage plant. This role requires close collaboration with the maintenance team, production staff, and other departments to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise a shift of skilled technicians, providing guidance and support to safely achieve plant production goals.
- Ensure compliance with department standards in executing maintenance tasks while enforcing both food and personal safety protocols.
- Manage the weekly scheduled work list, ensuring tasks are appropriately assigned and completed to meet schedule compliance goals.
- Oversee the urgent work list by coordinating repairs with plant personnel and allocating shift resources as needed.
- Conduct shift change meetings to update employees on plant status and assign tasks accordingly.
- Train and develop technicians, ensuring they acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
- Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to create, update, and complete work orders.
- Verify spare parts inventories to ensure the availability of critical components for plant equipment.
- Assist in managing and reducing repair part and labor costs through efficient resource allocation.
- Contribute to the development of preventive and predictive maintenance plans to improve overall equipment effectiveness and reduce downtime.
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Facility Management, or a similar field a plus.
- 3-5 years proven experience in a similar role.
- Good understanding of the technical features of plumbing, carpentry, and electrical systems.
- Strong knowledge of machines and equipment.
- Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.
- Keen eye for detail to ensure quality and safety standards.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) experience preferred.
Working and Environmental Conditions
Field environment: travel from one production area to another; exposure to noise, dust, gases, moving machinery, inclement weather, and cold/freezer storage temperatures. The environment may be wet or dry and temperatures of <40F. Will require continuous exposure to noisy environments >85 dBa. Adherence to safety protocols and wearing of required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, ear protection, and steel-toed shoes. Ability to perform repetitive tasks.
Physical Demands
Lifting and carrying awkward objects up to 60 lbs. Moving the entire body. Considerable use of arms, legs, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, twisting, reaching, and bending on a regular basis. Using hands to handle, control, and feel objects and/or tools. Must be able to stand, walk, and climb stairs or ladders as needed. Physical agility to navigate manufacturing equipment and facilities. Ability to work at heights.

Compensation
$80 - $100/YR DOE
