Job Description:
SAM is looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking individual to join the museum as a Part-Time Museum Experience Associate supporting our museum gallery and makerspace education operations. The Part-Time Museum Experience Associate is responsible for enhancing the visitor experience by actively monitoring the gallery floor and Makerspace, engaging guests in interactive learning, and supporting the museum's educational programming. This position will support educational programs and gallery operations by ensuring guests have an enjoyable experience in the museum, including effectively navigating the space and engaging with our interactive exhibits
Job Responsibilities:
- Create a welcoming and hospitable environment for museum guests while advancing the museum’s mission to share and celebrate the stories and people of aviation in the Carolinas.
- Lead guided tours, providing engaging and accurate information about exhibits and museum themes.
- Support the STEM Education Team with field trips, summer camps, and other educational activities by managing logistics and engaging with guests.
- Monitor the gallery floor and makerspace to ensure a safe, welcoming, and interactive environment for visitors.
- Support the setup, operation, and cleanup of daily education programs and museum events.
- Engage with visitors to answer questions, share insights, and encourage exploration of exhibits.
- Collaborate with staff to maintain the functionality and cleanliness of interactive spaces.
- Assist guests using museum interactives including flight simulators, paper airplane launchers, and interactive augmented reality tablets.
- Perform other duties as needed to support the museum’s daily operations.
Requirements:
Part-Time Museum Experience Associate must demonstrate qualifications listed below:
- Enjoys working in an engaging, high-energy environment focused on visitor experiences
- Knowledge or strong interest in STEM, aviation, or museum education to support hands-on activities and facilitate learning
- Ability to work with diverse age groups while maintaining a friendly, helpful attitude and professional demeanor
- Strong communication skills and the ability to resolve guest concerns effectively
- Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and commitment to adhering to a set schedule
- Capable of working both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Physical ability to stand, walk, and actively participate in activities for extended periods, as well as work indoors and outdoors
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- Experience working with children in a museum or educational setting

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.50 - $19.50 per hour
