Job Summary : The Paralegal is responsible for using skills, training, and approved settlement authority to advance the work of the SJRM Third Party Liability Unit by providing legal assistance to the responsible attorney, conferring with insurance carriers and / or attorneys regarding delinquent accounts, drafting motions and responses as directed by the responsible attorney, and negotiating claim and case settlements. Assists and provides a range of legal support and administration to lawyers and other legal professionals engaged in criminal, civil or administrative law, Performs legal, factual, and records research, Identifies relevant judicial decisions, statutes, legal articles, codes and other pertinent material, organizes, analyzes, and validates information, Prepares written reports and drafts legal documents including briefs, pleadings, appeals, agreements, contracts and legal memoranda, Assists with trial preparation, such as witness lists, exhibits and trial binders.

Education / Experience :
Bachelor’s degree from four-year college program or Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college program or technical school; three to six years legal assistant or paralegal experience specifically in healthcare revenue cycle responsibilities; and / or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have experience in case management, case settlement, case negotiation, and drafting of legal documents such as responses, original petitions, and demand letters. A paralegal certificate from a certified paralegal program is required.
