QUALIFICATIONS
Education

- Graduate from a recognized training facility for medical assistance
- Coursework completed in healthcare office management
Experience/Skills
- At least three years experience in medical office setting
- Knowledge of clinic office procedures
- Ability to use computer systems and applications
- Familiarity with medical practices terminology
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, clinical and administrative staff, and the public
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written reports
Required Licenses/Certifications

Upfront Responsibilities
- Greets all patients when they arrive
- Registers all patient visits, verifying insurance and demographics
- Collects, processes, and secures provider office co-payments
- Accurately schedules office visits and in-office procedures
- Identifies schedule conflicts and coordinates necessary staff and equipment needs
- Answers telephone promptly, directs calls appropriately and relays messages using patient cases in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Assists with maintenance of office supplies
- Delivers interdepartmental mail
- Performs various clinical duties such as copying, filing, and scanning patient information into the EMR
- Accurately receives and transmits information to and from provider offices
- Processes all new patient referrals
- Maintains AED checks/log monthly
- Maintains refrigerator/freezer temperatures record
- Exhibits ability to prioritize and organize work/responsibilities
- Monitors and records oxygen tanks monthly
- Checks expiration dates on supplies and medications monthly
- Inventories medications upon receiving and disposing
- Other duties as assigned
Discharge Responsibilities

Assists all patients at discharge from their office visit
- Provides patient with visit summary
- Directs patient to Lab or Radiology if orders are given
- Instructs patients on process if an OR (surgery) procedure is ordered
- Transmits charge sheets to the billing service in a timely, accurate manner
Additional Duties
- Performs select administrative duties as assigned by the director
- Processes all new patient referrals for the Terre Haute office
- Ensures office and clinical supply inventory is current, mail is opened and processed, and the office is opened and closed according to established procedures
- Ensures point of service collections are made when applicable
- Works with other staff to ensure efforts are coordinated and high quality patient care is provided
- Compiles statistical data for reports and records
- Ensures any patient complaints are handled appropriately
- Participates in professional development activities

60 hrs/Bi-Weekly
