QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Experience/Skills
- Requires 2-5 years of experience in an acute care setting
- Knowledge of current trends and techniques in nursing practice
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written reports
- Ability to communicate with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
- Ability to assess patient needs and make sound clinical judgment
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
Required Licenses/Certifications
- Currently licensed as an RN by the Indiana State Board of Nursing
- BLS
- ACLS
- PALS – within 12 months of hire
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) within 90 days

ROUTINE RESPONSIBILITIES
Behavioral Expectations

Patient Care
- Provides direct patient care, including medication administration, wound care, and vital sign monitoring
- Helps nurses complete their patient assignments, ensuring adequate coverage and efficient workflow
- Assist with the admission and discharge processes, including patient assessments, paperwork, and preparation of the patient’s room
- Provide support to understaffed unites, helping to maintain staffing levels and patient care standards
- Answers call lights promptly
- Reports lab values to physician accurately and in a timely manner
- Keeps patient informed and facilitates patient participation in plan of care
Documentation
- Responsible for accurately initiating and completing all forms pertaining to patient care
- Maintains patient record
- Accurately and legibly transcribes physician order and inputs order entry
- Completes documentation legibly and follows hospital policy for signatures, dates, and timing of events
Unit Responsibilities/Leadership/Misc
- Attends rapid responses and codes
- Shares knowledge/expertise and assists co-workers
- Serves as an example of professional nursing practice and promotes pride in nursing for the organization, the community, and the health care industry
- Serves as a mentor and direct support for nursing colleagues
- Participates in orientation of new staff
- Refers appropriate problems to House Supervisor, Director/Asst. Director of Patient Care Services and contributes to the resolution
- Supports hospital and nursing policies and decisions
- Promotes harmonious working relationship within unit and with peers
- Uses equipment and supplies in a safe efficient manner
- Cleans and returns equipment to proper storage
- Coordinates/assists in maintaining unit and patient room tidiness
- Participates in QI/PR activities and committees as assigned
- Keeps current with advances in nursing
- Supports department by demonstrating flexibility with schedule and job duties
