What are the responsibilities and job description for the Analyst - Commercial Real Estate position at Sullivan & Cromwell?
SUMMARY Commercial Real Estate Analysts work very closely with the Firm’s lawyers, Legal Assistants, and outside counsel and clients.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Real Estate Tasks
- Primary responsibility for reviewing and negotiating surveys and title policies, including preparation of title objection and response letters, title review summaries and permitted exceptions.
- Draft deeds, assignments, subordination agreements, estoppels, and tax forms.
- Draft title affidavits and mechanic’s lien indemnities.
- Due diligence review, including review and abstract of ground leases, mortgages, zoning reports, regulatory and development agreements, CCR’s and REAs.
- Analysis of zoning and land use codes.
- Keep apprised of new or changing ALTA/title industry practices and standards.
- Field questions from junior associates on title and general deal processes and procedures.
- Train junior paralegals.
- Monitor title insurance and corporate service provider invoicing.
General Corporate Tasks
- Forming corporate entities (i.e., limited liability companies, limited partnerships and corporations).
- Qualifying entities to do business.
- Drafting corporate resolutions and UCCs.
- Interfacing with corporate service providers such as CSC and CT Corporation to obtain corporate proofs.
In addition, responsibilities related to maintaining firm and client information are to be adhered to by all employees. This includes complying with the firm’s information security policies, protecting firm assets from unauthorized access, disclosure, modification, destruction or interference, and reporting security events or potential events or other security risks to management.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of legal/paralegal environments.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills; detail oriented.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Able to work under pressure.
- High degree of initiative and self-motivation.
- Experience with New York City transactions preferred.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Prior legal experience required.

COMPENSATION
The base salary range offered for this role will be between $140,000 - $175,000. When determining a candidate’s compensation offer, elements unique to each person are taken into consideration including but not limited to skill set, experience level, performance, professional certifications, degrees and location, as well as the needs of the Firm.
