Buyer I
The Buyer I assists in purchasing materials, supplies and services at the most favorable terms for the organization. This position will evaluate bids and negotiates prices and terms for purchased goods and services. The Buyer will function as the tactical sourcing expert for Texas International Terminals and will provide procurement support to TIRCO and other entities as required.
Roles :
Purchase orders : responsible for issuing and tracking all stages of purchase orders.
Supplier Selection : Select best source for goods and services
Expeditor : Expedite and ensure all orders are delivered on time
Responsibilities :
Create POs for all departments.
Developing an effective and accurate system for monitoring purchase orders
Ensure chosen vendors are achieving best cost and delivery on all orders.
Monitor Supplier performance.
Ensure that all requisitions are attached to PO’s.
Track savings in SharePoint.
Actively monitor and update PO status.
Working within the management team to ensure that all deliveries satisfy the assigned orders and report any back ordered or missing products
Assisting the Supply Chain Manager with maintaining inventory levels and materials on a regular basis
Act as backup for receiving process when warehouse personnel are not available.
Communicate with vendors and employees on purchase orders.
Coordinate deliveries and disseminate information to departmental staff as needed.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements :
High school diploma or relevant work experience.
Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Maritime industry experience a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Must have or be able to obtain a TWIC card.
Must possess and maintain a valid US driver’s license.
Must pass all pre-employment testing including a drug test, physical and background check.
Physical Demands :
Candidates must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, unassisted.
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working at a computer.
