What are the responsibilities and job description for the James F. Scudday Vertebrate Collection Digitization Intern, Title III STEM Internship 2025 position at sulross?
Primary ResponsibilitiesPurpose of Job: Position is vital to improving accessibility of the collection to a larger scientific community and provide safer access to delicate specimens. Help maintain an active and viable regional herbarium for use by the national and international botanical community. Provide assistance to Dr. Larson in the management and upkeep of the James F. Scudday Vertebrate Collection. Duties and Responsibilities:Responsible for digitizing program, i.e., photograph specimens, update and confirm current databases, etc. From time to time, the Curatorial Assistant may be assigned other duties such as typing specimen labels, fixing specimens, and helping with other Vertebrate Collection activities. Responsible for personal safety and the safety of others; must exercise due caution and practice safe work habits at all times. Supervision: direct supervision from Dr. Larson for day to day instruction. Dr. Larson will also act as the Faculty Mentor within the STEM Internship Program.STEM Internship Program:This position is part of the Title III STEM Lobotrack to Success (LTS) SRSU STEM Internship Program. Along with the normal job duties, the student will learn from the faculty supervisor about the STEM workforce, different career pathways, research, and more. Students will gain knowledge, experience, and professional connections in the STEM field. Students will have access to professional development tools throughout the internship program (resume building, interview practices, etc.). Additionally, the student must present at the SRSU Student Symposium.
