General Description:
The purpose of this position is to assist with a wide variety of research and/or development tasks and/or experiments.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Work with Valent R&D and FMD personnel to execute field research and demonstration trials.
- Evaluate crop conditions and take detailed notes of conditions throughout the growing season in an unbiased, scientific manner.
- Assist with field days.
- Assist Research Station personnel with day-to-day operations.
Skills:
- Excellent initiative, communication, interpersonal, and persuasion skills. Strong time management and organizational skills. Computer skills and experience, including Microsoft Office and web-based programs. Knowledgeable about row crops and crop protection products.
Experience:
- Knowledge of common agricultural practices, including weed, disease, and insect identification in row crops.
Education:
- Undergraduate student or BA/BS in agricultural related science or equivalent.
Other:
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle report required. May be required to work weekends and long days during peak research period. Able to lift or move 50-75 lbs. Will work outside around pesticides in agricultural crop fields; may be exposed to extremes in temperature, humidity, or wetness. Will follow all Valent and government safety requirements. May be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
