Purpose and Scope of Job:
Weld/Fabricate complete, tight tolerance welded steel assemblies up to 35 kg using plate thicknesses from sheet metal. Complete all weldments with prescribed levels of quality, in a timely manner, and with proper documentation.
Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned):
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints (Both Imperial and Metric Standards) for manufacturing welded and fabricated components and assemblies.
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and part drawings/standards.
- Read and follow any available process sheets or setup documentation for the parts.
- Follow best order of welding the assemblies based on shape, size, and complexity of part.
- Determine equipment, tools, jigs, fixturing and measurement devices required for the job.
- Use CNC cutting equipment (plasma/laser/water jet) and/or non CNC cutting equipment (Band saw/Handheld plasma) to cut stock (plate, flat bar, tubing, angle) to size and to generate complex burnouts.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of welding experience and/or schooling using MIG and/or TIG welding process.
- Ability to work in a fast paced production environment.
- High School Diploma or GED required; certification in welding from a technical school preferred.
- Ability to pass American Welding Society 1G test (D1.1 Clause 4 position 1G, Plate) using MIG welding - to be independently administered through SMA.
- Ability to achieve production welding speeds (manual) of 6 - 10 inches/min for typical 8mm structural welds on MIG welders using 0.035 wire.

Duties are performed in an industrial environment.
