What are the responsibilities and job description for the Document Processor III - HIM/Medical Records position at Summa Health?
Processes medical documents that require placement into the CarePath System for patient care.
Minimum Qualifications:
Formal Education Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience & Training Required:
- Two (2) years experience in a Medical Office or Experience in a Health Information Management Department with Electronic Health Record experience
Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
- Ability to pass Medical Terminology exam as administered by Human Resources.
- Ability to pass a Typing exam administered by Human Resources with a minimum of 30 wpm.
- Ability to pass Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook exam as administered by Human Resources.
- Must maintain confidentiality of patient records.
- Ability to work cooperatively and effectively communicate verbally and in writing with employees, physicians, and other Health Information Management customers.
- Ability to exhibit a courteous behavior when working with internal and external customers and work as a team member.
- Ability to discern numbers and names accurately.
- Ability to monitor concentration and focus on task at hand.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritizes work, meet deadlines under stress, and stay organized.
- Must be detailed oriented.
- Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.
Level of Physical Demands:
- Exerts 20-50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force continuously to move objects.
- Ability to push cart and pick up charts on all nursing units.
- Ability to bend, stoop, and lift files.
- Ability to view computer monitor for long periods of time.

The salary range on this job posting/advertising is base salary exclusive of any bonuses or differentials. Many factors, such as years of relevant experience and geographical location are considered when determining the starting rate of pay. Please keep in mind that the range that is listed is the full base salary range. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical.
