What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instrument Processing Tech II position at Summa Health?
Provides clean and sterile supplies and equipment through decontamination, preparation, sterilization, storage and distribution of surgical instruments and equipment utilizing infection control and safety practices during all phases of the process under the direction of a Unit Manager/Supervisor.
Formal Education Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read and write English and follow oral and written instructions
- Current HSPA or CBSP Certification or in an approved certification program. Be able to obtain certification within six months of hire date.
- Ability to work well within a team environment: by accepting and offering honest and constructive feedback; by supporting team goals and encouraging other team members; and by collaborating to consolidate work, solve problems, create new methods, and/or reduce costs.
- Ability to be self-directed in executing responsibilities within a team structure.
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time, frequent pushing, pulling, and cleaning equipment and materials.
- Knowledge of appropriate medical terminology for surgical applications.
- Medium: Exerts 20-50 pounds of force occasionally and/or ten to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force continuously to move objects.
