What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant -Sameday Surgery Center position at Summa Health?
Participates with the care teams in Summa Health to provide patient focused care. Is able to maintain and adapt to daily operations, interpret and execute provided instructions, and work reliably with professionalism.
Formal Education Required- Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program
- One (1) year related medical office experience; or externship; or associated experience or education
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and EMR.
- Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team.
- Maintain HIPAA confidentiality.
- Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.
- Ability and willingness to float between units as needed.
- Required ability to handle bodily fluids and possible exposure to communicable disease.
- Ability to obtain BLS within Summa Health
- Must pass yearly clinical skill competencies
- Medium: Exerts 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force continuously to move objects. Ability to bend, stand, and walk for extended time.
