Summary:
Plans, organizes and evaluates the operational, technical and strategic business of the pre analytical function of the lab on multiple campuses where applicable. Supervises employees, maintains employee, regulatory and business files, oversees technical, safety, competencies, audits and quality assurance activities. Researches patient service issues providing immediate action and resolution. Assists in the development, administration and compliance with federal, state, hospital and departmental polices, rules and regulations to include all certifying, regulatory agencies for laboratory practice that are applicable, i.e. CAP, Joint Commission. Interacts closely with LIS team to assist with testing, upgrades and requesting business intelligence reports. Develops and implements performance improvement initiatives to include assessing outcomes and development of action plans. Assists with business growth and related operational functions of this department.Minimum Qualifications:
1. Formal Education Required:
a. Associate Degree (or higher) in laboratory or business-related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
b. Phlebotomist with current continuing education to maintain certification
2. Certifications:
a. Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Lab Scientist (MLS), Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), or Categorical certification in area of experience from the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT).
3. Experience and Training Required:
a. Five (5) years related professional experience
b. Two (2) years of Supervisory or increasingly responsible experience that has provided leadership skills (phlebotomy, customer service, general leadership)
4. Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
a. Excellent communication, leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills
b. Skilled in customer service training and education
c. Ability to work well within a team environment by accepting and offering constructive feedback, supporting team goals, and encouraging team members
d. Basic understanding of clinical lab testing and requirements
e. Knowledge and basic proficiency of use of laboratory information systems and applications
f. Ability to be objective, open minded, self directed in executing responsibilities within a team structure
g. Ability to work within the institutional vision and support excellent customer service/satisfaction
h. Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with patients/customers with the understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity
5. Level of Physical Demands:
a. Light: Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to ten pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force continuously.

The salary range on this job posting/advertising is base salary exclusive of any bonuses or differentials. Many factors, such as years of relevant experience and geographical location are considered when determining the starting rate of pay. We believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members when determining offers. Please keep in mind that the range that is listed is the full base salary range. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical.
